The beaches are Pretty but I really really wanted to bond with the turtles. I promised myself not to buy any more tourist crap, somehow we ended up coming home with a 15 pound wooden turtle

Our only scare was driving on the other side of the road with massive ditches on both sides that the car could fall into Eeek.

We land and they wouldn't even let us out of the airport without having a place to stay. They counted all our money asked how many credit cards we had and how much money was on them.

Well what can we say, other than OnE of the reason we headed to Dubai was for the 777 Business Class. And it was well worth it. I thought I was going to suffocate on the flight from SLC to Atlanta. And that was only 4 hours. (I was in coach and the flight was packed) However the 13 hour flight to Dubai was a breeze. I don't know how I am going to adjust when we loose these benefits.

Our Hotel had a roof top pool. We did actually get in.

Burj al Khalifa. Tallest building in the world. You may look at this pic and think "wow" building. But when I look at this pic I think "wow" SteVe your so HoT. he he

Compared to the other buildings it is pretty tall. Twice as tall as the Empire State Building if you need a reference. plus for all you mission impossible fans (its in the new movie)

Another reason we wanted to go to Dubai was to snowboard indoor. Ski Dubai is inside the mall. As you can see the indoor Resort is pretty much a winter wonderland!

Fake Snow and All

So you could rent everything there but gloves. Who goes to the desert and brings gloves, NOBODY (including us). And if you know my husband we are not going to pay for something we have at home (plus they were pretty pricey). So socks it was and they worked just fine.

Steve is so CooL (ha ha)

The beach was grand, in the background is the 7 star hotel the Burj Al Arab it the one that looks like a sail. Steve and I were totally going to stay there but it wasn't in our budget (surprise surprise)

Dubai Marina- I actually really liked it here. It was super chill and the weather was awesome the whole week. So lets be honest. There really isn't a ton to do in Dubai. See the crazy building and shop. They say shopping is there #1 sport. Yep in Dubai its considered a sport.

For some reason "Labor" Day only reminds me of giving birth, so gratefully I went another Labor Day weekend without bearing a child.

Instead I headed back to NY and visited my girlfriend Dana in upstate New York and while there

she was like "I think there is a Mormon site just a mile from my house. I've never been but do you want to see it. I said yes and lo and behold It was the WHITMER FARM!!! She got a little more than she bargained for, the missionaries were all over her.

Off course we made our way closer because our seats were pretty high. We ended up in the press box and just steping over the yellow chain. It was awesome and we sat there all weekend, the best part is the usher started recognizing our faces and we didn't even have to sneak in anymore

I must admit it was hard getting recruits, hopefully when we move back to Utah it wont be so hard (hint hint).The HightLight: So there I am so close to the end zone and on my 3rd step and I realize Im still going to be inches away from scoring so what do I do? Only what I could, which was the splits it was CraZy. I think I caught everyone by surprise including myself. However, I'm certain I would have got a "standing O" had they not have been so shocked. So now for the highlight; I can still do the splits!

After the death of my dear friend Brynn, I cried for days and one of my PA friends mentioned that I've had it rough this last year. “Just PA school alone is hard but you loss your grandma, your dad had a heart attack, you had surgery and then complications with the surgery and now your friend Brynn is gone”. When she mentioned those things I about said "Your right, I have had it rough" but if she hadn't pointed out all my heartaches I wouldn't have thought of them. It's not that I have really forgotten those trials but that Heavenly Father had made my burden so much lighter that I didn't constantly reflect on them. I look back on all I've been through and I realize how true the words of the Prophets are that he will not give you a trial you cannot handle and when needed he will be there for you to lighten your load because I know that he has lightened mine.

to take a SEMESTER ABROAD and what I mean by "semester abroad" is traveling with me his wife for a semester (pause) abroad (Instead of starting school right away in Aug.) I think its a grand idea and here is why

#1- I'll take my PA cert and will not be able to start a job for months while I get credentialed and once I have a job I wont get a good vaca for years (so sad).
#2- We have flight benefits and the time to travel.
#3- I'd like to say "when are we ever going to get another opportunity like this" but I like to travel so I will make opportunities. However (keyword) never will it be so convenient. No kids, no jobs, and to be honest no money but I still think we should go?

We finally made it to Buffalo to visit the Shaheens, and it was well worth the trip.

Steve really wanted to see Niagara, so being good host they took us to Canada. We got back to American soil and had some tasty Buffalo wings. Why I didn't document this (by photo) I do not know, maybe it was because my fingers were covered in deliciousness. Speaking of being covered when we returned to the car the concrete was covered in transmission fluid.

At least they have cute butts cuz they were @ it for a while. But they got the car fixed just in time for our flight and Megan to bust out some cookies

Should we STAY or should we GO

I cant believe we have been here for almost 2 years. Way back when (as in before we moved here) we thought we might stick around for 5 years, but then with the student life, cost of rent, winters, etc we couldn't wait to get out of here. And now that the end is near and spring is here (well almost) we are tempted to stay.

If we STAY- We could actually enjoy the city more because we'd have a income (a larger income that is) and more time, also I could get rocking PA experience in NYC (EX. although a gun shot wound is the same whether its in the Bronx or West Valley its just more likely in the Bronx). Plus we will never live here again, gotta take advantage.

If we GO- Where do we go? Its either St. George or Salt Lake. Steve still has some school to finish so the U or Dixie?(for all those Y fans, when Steve mentioned he might want to go there a little piece of my heart died, and a big piece of throw up almost happened) call me selfish, naive, immature but I prefer if you'd just call me a UTE FAN!

St. George- My husband actually wants to live there (a HUGE bonus) as do I,

BUT................

A) If we move there it will likely be for the REST of OUR LIVES and that my friends scares me and feels like a pretty BIG commitment.

B) I'll be honest I dont know about Dixie,

although on the + side C) Most my fam is there and I'm behind on some major bonding and its where we eventually want to end up. I dont even need to mention the weather, outdoor activities, and amazing life we'd have cuz thats a given.

Salt Lake-

A) Steve could go to the U and hopefully still work for Delta, we could ski/snowboard in the winter, travel, fun life aswell, etc.

B) We both have friends and family close.

and C) Were only thinking like 2-5 years there and then settle down in SG. Or what i really would like to do is move out of the country for a year and then settle down in SG (but I think that might be wishful thinking)

A must is the slushy Butterbeer, it is worth every dollar!

I was pretty excited to enter Hogwarts (as you can see below).
The ride was Awesome and in Steve words "worth the trip"

However I was not to excited to go on the Jurassic Park Ride,
I didnt want to get soaked

I ended up getting SOAKED anyway. As we were walking back to car (20 minutes away) it started to down POUR. We were drenched in a matter of seconds, It may look like i'm not happy with the awesome face i'm pulling but it was totally worth the trip. I bought some pjs and we borrowed a towell and changed in a hotel bathroom and off to the airport we went.

Every 5 Weeks

I get somewhat depressed when it comes to taking the end of rotation exams (they're every 5 weeks). It seems while I study I begin to think I am inadequate and don't know anything. Its a hard feeling to keep feeling on a regular basis (every 5 weeks) and the hardest part is I know how blessed I am and so I feel depressed and then guilt for feeling depressed. Basically I'm a mess and so is my house (every 5 weeks).

Turns out they compare the pain of Kidney Stones to Labor, and if that's the case then I've been in labor 4+ times now and unlike labor where the more you have the faster it goes Kidney Stones don't go fast.

It all started monday morning, went straight to the ER (by taxi) then got admitted, had the worst hospital experience ever and ended up in the OR tuesday afternoon to get the stone out. I have been in bed ever since (its true I am still in bed typing) O i did get out of bed to go to school and take an exam but that about it. Will you feel bad for me cause that's pretty much why i'm blogging about it... you should probably feel bad for Steve too (cause you know)

Anniversary #1

Steve was a bit worried about giving me a baseball mitt

but I was super stoked

plus it came with a tripod for my camera

We had an awesome day but my favorite part was the poem he made up and read to me on the paddle boats.... Believe me it was much better than his attempt at singing (ha ha ha)

I know must of us think @ times we have it RuFF but PA school is no walk in the ParK. I wish I could somehow explain it so everyone would get it and understand but I dont think its possible. So I'll just give you my last 3 weeks of school....

Week one- I had class everyday 9-5 (in the same classroom, no break, we do get a lunch but other than that straight class) I come home from class start studying tell 12, wake up @ 5 a.m. and study till class starts again. And then repeat the cycle. I think I had 4 exams that you have to get 74% or better, if you dont they give you a chance to take a remedial (which is a harder exam) if you dont pass that your either out of the program or you'll have to take a comp of the whole semester which for most are impossible to pass.

Speaking of getting kicked out of the program... We're in class one day, we all took a exam that morning and mid class a teacher comes in and pulls a student out. A half hour or so later the same teacher come back in gathers up all the students stuff, and that my friends was the last we saw of her. (so SAD, really)

Week two and three- Finals, no class, but a exam every day, wake up @ 5 study till 8:45 go take my exam, come home freaking out whether I passed or not, start studying tell 12 @ night. Go to bed wake up @ 5 and start the same process all over again.

The Stress is really what kills you, each exam you take everything is on the line. One exam, one bad day, could really cost you the whole program. You get done with the test and if you think you 've passed you get one brief second of relief and then your on to worrying about whether you'll pass the next one.

All in All I really just want you to feel bad for me (ha ha ha) cuz I think it's clear that I feel pretty bad for myself and I'd love some company.

Steve wanted a couch, and he wanted this one real bad, because it was FREE and just down the street. When he went to get it, it was already spoken for and he came back devastated. Due to other free stuff he went back down the street and ran into the man who got the couch and LucKy Us he didnt want it anymore.

So we got the couch and wheeled it down the street to our apartment and I'd like to say through the front door.... but it didnt fit. Again Steve was devasted

So he did what any man would do, spent the next 4 hours taking the whole thing apart on the sidewalk

We got it through the door, and it was really hard to get it down the stairs, I held one end and sat on my butt and scooted down each step like a little child (not fun)

This is where the whole "Free comes with a Price" part comes in. The whole process took Steve 8 hours.

The final product, which doubles as bed, most likely your bed if you'd come visit

My so called "Break" started with working in the ER

(atleast I got to work with Danielle)

Speaking of Danielle while she went to Cancun we watched her cat.... Cody

well we're not anymore

the thing is just like a kid, you have to feed it, and clean up after his poo,

and he cries which kept us up most of the nights

and like a kid sometimes the best part is giving it back to the parents

The highlight of our week was climbing.... everyday (off course we'd rather be climbing outside but we are limited) I think I'm going to vent now. I was woking with this Doctor in the ER and he's like "I only climb outdoors blah blah blah blah blah" and it made me think if your a climber at heart you'll take whatever you can get. I could go into more detail but I'm going to spare you.

We also played some basketball, watched a lot of movies, and went to a comedy club with WWF Mick Foley doing stand up.

V-weekend

Steve isn't a fan of Valentines Day. One year he wrote in a card

"I hate Valentines Day, but I like you!"

So when I told him it instead of Valentines Day

it should be Valentines "Weekend" and he said OK

I was pretty stoked!

I knew it was LOVE when he surprised me with a broadway.

I think he hates broadways more than Valentines Day.

To top it off I came home from working in the ER

to a brand new microwave and table

Dont worry I gave back

Steve has a HUGE thing for waffles,

he has been wanting this waffle iron for a long time.

So he got a little surprise himself with a waffle breakfast everyday.

The kid was all grins I could do no wrong.

Best Day Ever, because they canceled school due to the Snow
So we decided to build a snowman in our yard (well you know), behind me and the man of snow you can get a glimpse of our house, and yes that is cardboard in the windows

It was a hit, people would stop and start taking pictures, I guess snowmans are pretty rare in downtown Brooklyn

Most of you probably aren't aware of Steve's creative dates this one takes the cake, we started up the mountain around 11 pm for what we thought was just snowshoen'
Dustin and Ashley joined in on the FUN...

We get to the top and see this huge meadow. Steve said he had to "go" and Dustin said he would join him. Me and Ashley were like "our husbands are weird" awhile later we glance over and see a booming fire, so we decide to go see what they were really up too

we get there and see a christmas tree with presents, lights, candles, and a huge area cleared by a snow shovel.

We open our presents to find ICE SKATES... (I was shocked)

So here we are on the top of a mountain ice skating on a lake that our husbands had previously cleared off and set up an amazing date. For those of you who said his crazy dates wouldn't happen once we were married... Boo Yeah (ha ha ha)

One night that I didnt have to study (but probably should have ha ha ha) we picked up some New York Pizza and BiKeD to a park under the Brigde. He surprised me with drinks and chocolate covered strawberries.

Everyone ask if we are enjoying living in NY, I like it, but believe me we would enjoy it a lot better if we weren't broke and going to school.

No matter how much I try I can not get my husband to enjoy a good Broadway, I'm sure the price has something to do with it. He is giving me one more chance and then no more broadways for the Woods.

Incase you've forgotten our bikes have become
like cars to us. And sometimes its not fun to drive

You know most cats as kittens are CUTE and then they grow up UGLY. Turns out this isn't always the case (I know "shocker") Steve and I met Kody my girlfriends cat (full grown) and fell in LoVe. The lion cut might have had something to do with it. Steve spent the next couple weeks looking up cats with Lion Cuts....

Where the misCATmunication comes in.....

Steve had spent hours and hours looking up Persian Kittens (i'm thinking WOW he is really wanting a cat) and He's thinking, Traci really has a thing for cats.

So I guess we were in the process of considering a cat.

Then one day I'm kind of sad and Steve's like "hey lets go get a cat". We pull out some $ take a hour bus and subway ride across new york and while traveling and talking, we come to the realization that I thought Steve really wanted a cat, and Steve thought I really wanted a cat.

When really WE BOTH didn't know if we wanted one at ALL.

Car TrouBle

It was a SAD DAY in the Wood Family
when one of our cars broke down, and by cars I mean bike and by broke down I mean Steve's front wheel was stolen.
Steves "commute" isn't short so he ended up having to wheel his one wheeled bike all the way home
(it took over an hour)

The lose of the one wheel has been devastating on our 2 bike family...

We even hit up Lowes after and when we walked out with our load people were like "U guys are on bikes?"

Birthdays are a Pretty Big Deal (atleast to me). Last year I threw Steve a Suprise Party (he was very Suprised) and this year he got Breakfast In Bed (and thats about it) Im still feeling pretty bad about it. I had a huge test that morning and ended up having class from 9 to 9.... Boo

Lucky for me my Family pulled through with massive Birthday phone calls, my Mom and Dave took us out earlier thats where the cake comes into it and my Dad and Tode paid for dinner. Turns out when they called Steve on his birthday and asked him what his plans were for the night he said "Look for a Job, and make Traci dinner." Do you see why I feel Guilty!

2 weeks later my coat is still too big and my life is really over. I go to school from 9-5, get home and study till 12 and go to bed.
